#80 - Marcus Alipate Smoove Tongan Relief Event

On today's episode, the fellas sit down with the CEO of Smoove, Marcus Alipate. Who is one generation removed from the Kingdom of Tonga. Which was greatly effected by the volcano eruption that impacted 84,000 people. Families lost their homes, communication lines destroyed, and the islands left in complete ash. To give back to the island of Tonga and those effected by the Tsunami, Smoove will be hosting a Tonga Relief Event in partnership with the Tonga National Basketball Tea,, the University of Oregon and Morrison Market. The event will take place on February 17th from 7pm-11pm at Morrison Market in Portland, Oregon. 

@Officiallysmoove will be having a brand exhibit showcasing our new collection and collab items with local Portland brand, Pluto, where February proceeds from Smoove sales will go towards helping those who were impacted in Tonga.

The show transitioned from the Tongan natural disaster to then talking about how Marcus made the leap from Basketball to Fashion. The life tragedies Marcus has endured leading up to the launch of his luxury brand but instead of him putting the brand on hold, these obstacles made him realize how precious time is and that while you're alive you need to follow your heart and do what you are passionate about. A must listen!
